Well, after having a whole month of auditions and jobs falling through, Im back out on the road tomorrow morning for what looks like a whole month or more. Ive loved this time being with Lena and Fortune, but I feel an enormous need/desire to work and the pressure of needing to earn money for my family. This time Im playing the part of a Russian gold prospector in the 1920s in a TV show being shot to the Russian border to the north. I have over a 100 scenes and by all accounts this is a very big part. All of the lines are in Chinese and Im going to be under a mountain of pressure learning all of these lines. I hate to be gone away from Lena and Fortune for so long, but to follow my dream and do whats best for Fortune and Lena right now, this is the life Ive chosen. We agreed that whats best for our family now is to be here in China. Not only for all of the help we have with the baby (countless relatives), learning Chinese, but also bc the money im starting to earn, etc. and so on. By going out on the road to do this job, Im earning enough money to pay for our two bedroom apartment for a whole year. Id eventually like to buy us a place and a car and so many other things. Im hoping that all of these roles will continue to bring bigger and better things. Ive been recognized on the street here in Dalian a few times at the store or in the mall; its a strange feeling, but if being a semi-famous foreign actor can make us some mo money, than by all means plaster me all over the TV and movie screens. That being said, I know in my heart that after some time and things have slowed down a bit, it will be time to bring Lena and Fortune back to the states permanently and hopefully I could resume teaching (ideally in Portage) when Fortune is old enough to go to school. Anyway, Im missing home and feeling a bit pensive tonight about Robin Williams, etc. so, Ill take your prayers and positive vibes that this month goes by quickly, money is safe in hand and that Im proud of the work Ive done when Im all wrapped.
