Well done, Pm Sutherland and others, for starting this group, - TopicsExpress

Well done, Pm Sutherland and others, for starting this group, mobilising like-minded people, who want to stop the rot, and put an end to this crazy demolition, of our built heritage. Im all in favour of well-designed, new buildings, in appropriate locations, but NOT at the expense of destroying our heritage. I have a few suggestions for getting the group started : 1. Find out WHO currently owns the former Eastgate Hostel ? 2. Then find out why it is being left to rot ( no doubt it will deteriorate, until it reaches a point, where the national guardians of our built heritage Historic Scotland will sign the demolition order. Just as they have done, with the listed building in Academy Street, which was demolished, this week. 3. Arrange an informal get-together, to get to know each other and with the purpose of identifying, some of the Inverness buildings we feel are at risk. Each of us could suggest at least one building which falls into this category. We could then plot these buildings on a large scale map of the town. ( Id be happy to supply such a map and bring along a selection of photos ). 4. Keep the wider public fully informed with regular press releases and reference to this Facebook page. The attached photo shows that, the wholesale destruction of our built heritage, is not something new .... its been going on for years!!!
