Well guys, this shouldnt be short, but I hope that its sweet, I had another great weekend with my youngest son Connor Hamer, I also went to my first Catholic mass, then I realized< its the Marine Corps Birthday! It didnt hurt that they had a display of all the Armed Forces-(Veterans Day tomorrow and such.) I wanted to thank Chip Campbell, for talking to me about his uniform, at the Wylie High School Junior Senior Prom, in 1981, I went to bootcamp in San Diego, Ca. in July, the 27th to be exact, I also would like to thank Michael Bolton, Steve Ijames, Alex Young, and a few others from our small town, for joining up, so that I could see a familiar and friendly face now and then. I was in the infantry, backbone of the Corps, every Marine is a rifleman, because of that, we are dangerous. My first duty station was Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. I wish that I was still in contact with Daniel Arron Prittie, he made it a very short year, you think my antics are bad, whoa Nelly! My next station was smallish Camp Horno, inside of Camp Pendleton-(Very Big!). This is where I met my friend David Takata, who was a very good leader, very strict, but also very fair. I met Patrick Lombardo, who took a lot of the pictures that I use to remind me of Back in the day! Don Tunis, who I never got to know, but I can tell through fb, that was my loss. Calvin Bailey, my first close look at an 8th and I Marine, very impressive! Last but not least, my really good friend David Pedraza, one Marine that was always Squared Away, he could run like a Siberian Husky dog, if you are not familiar with the breed, its the only dog, that when you run them, they want to run some more! Dave is like that, he also said that he was going to join the French Forein Legion, and he did, for a bit. He also has trained in the martial art of Kung Fu, for real, the last twenty years or so, and would like to open up his own school, Im trying to get him to move to Austin to do that, I would be his very first student, but, he says his wife said NO! So, there goes that. I consider Dave, to be one of my closest friends in the entire world, even though we havent seen each other in 28 years, thanks Facebook! I say all that, so that I can say this, I love my family, i even love the people i work with, hell I even love my job! That said, I will NEVER experience the Love that I have for those men, with which I served, and trained. November 11th is all of our day, all the Armed Forces, but from my personal expieriences, I always think fondly of my fellow Devil Dogs. So to my fellow Marines, Semper Fi, Do Or Die! Good Night My Brothers! David Takta< please check for any spelling or syntax errors.
