Well, had my appointment with the surgeon today. Heres in a nutshell whats going to happen. Looks like Ill be going to Pittsburgh, where I have elected to have a double mastectomy, reconstruction and lymph node testing done all in one surgery. They are calling to set up my first initial consult to have this done and hoping to hear about an appointment by the end of this week. Keeping my fingers crossed that they can get me in to have that first initial consult in the next week or so. They did genetic testing today. Ill get those results in about 3 weeks. They wont know what stage my cancer is until they go in and take out the whole area. As it stands right now its considered noninvasive (the small spot that they have results from) they arent sure if there are invasive areas around there and wont know until its all taken out and tested. Either way Im looking at radiation for 4-6 weeks after. Also on meds for 5-10 years to block the hormone receptors that I also tested positive for. If they find invasive cancer cells then it would add to my treatment. The radiation seems to be nothing though. No big side effects, easy peasy. Its the big surgery all at once thats going to be a rough one. Hopefully they get these little, saggy, problematic fing boobies cut out of me soon and I can get on with my life!
