Well it has been a scary and busy end to the week. I have been having headaches for about a month now. Thursday night Megan got home from work. I helped her bring in the groceries when the headache spiked and my right leg went numb. Then the numbness moved up my right side through my right arm and into the right side of my face. The numbness went away and was replaced with spots in my vision. That faded. Given my past with MS I initially dismissed it as another example of my body exhibiting Murphys Law. But several people thought I may have been having a stroke and the headache was bad Friday morning so... I tried to schedule a doctors appointment but could not get an appointment with my regular doc. So I was concerned enough to decide I needed to go to the ER. They did two MRIs one checking blood flow the other checking for neurological problems. The blood flow scan was clear no clots or aneurisms. The neuro scan showed some lesions that they thought were consistent with MS. But since the episode was potentially a stroke they wanted to keep me overnight for observation. As Megan got home apparently our cars radiator leaked badly enough it was overheating. Good thing too. At 4 this morning it happened again. I woke up and could not feel my right arm. I called for a nurse. After they got in the room it moved from my right arm through the left side of my body and my face went numb enough that my tongue was numb and I had a hard time talking. Although they also did EKGs and ultrasounds of my arteries in my neck there was still no sign of clots or obstruction but they now suspect is was a TIA or transient Ischemic Attack (basically a mini stroke). They gave me some medication that hopefully will help prevent another one or a worse one. Come Monday I will need to call my neurologist and schedule a follow up. Thanks for the prayers.
