Well it has been awhile since we have needed to post on this page but we feel that after the news of the past few days we need to. It seems to us that the HMIE inspectors have not seen the real kingspark school. Why ? Well they arrived at a time when the staff moral was at its lowest. The schools name was in the paper for the first time. The inspectors had to be influenced by the media as anyone who can give this school a weak for meeting learners needs has never had a child at the school. The inspectors should surely have realised that the children at this school are not governed by the same curriculum as mainstream children. Some will never write their name or achieve any of the early level in curriculum for excellence. Some may achieve age and stage first or second level. However what is important is ability to live as normal and as full a life as possible. If a child starts school unable to walk and only bum shovels but leaves school walking and running is that not meeting their needs? If a child who is not very clear when talking can leave the school after doing a solo choir song is that not helping to meet learners needs? What of all the children who cant swim because the have only one useable arm or leg and are then winning swimming galas have their needs not been met? Children who have no sense of imagination or artistic ability who win art contests sorry but is that not meeting their needs? This is only a few ways that I know children at the school are having there needs met over the years its not all about literacy , numeracy or cross curricular learning its about learning to achieve in life and getting the best out of life for as long as is possible. As for the latest news maybe the police coming in and telling the few people with an issue that NOTHING is or has gone on in the school is the only way to stop the stress and start to remove the black clouds that hang over the school. Lets hope for that everyone involved with the school can support the staff in their difficult jobs. Lets face it everyones only concern at the school is and has always been the best welfare of the children in their care and trying to get the best out of OUR children and young people.
