Well, its been an interesting week to say the least. Last Sunday I got a second chance at life due to a few extremely dedicated professionals. Without them being on the ball, at the top of their game... I would not be here today, simple as that. We often take what weve learned for granted, that the knowledge we learned years ago will be there when we need it, that we can rely on instinct... but thats not the case. I truly am lucky these people were the ones working last week... they worked their arses off to save my life and if they wouldnt have been ready to take on the challenge I threw at them... well... I would be just another number... From what they tell me... I was quite the challenge... to say the least :( Thank you and please know, each and every day I get to open my eyes and see my family again is because of you! With that, soo many people stepped up to help my family out over this past while and I truly, truly cant say thank you enough. I dont remember much of who all showed up at the DRHC when I went under, yet I was lucky enough to wake up to my wife and several of her friends by her side. Amy, Elaine and Jamie... thank you for spending days on end by Nicoles side, as much as she wont admit it, she was more of a wreck than I was :) When I woke, I also found out that our kids were in great hands, my friends/family at the KDSB bent over backwards to make sure everything was done that needed to be done, I remembered the chaos I put Howie and Todd through, that my family was surrounded by soo many caring people, and truly smiled when Dale, Grace, Lucy, Melissa, Joslyn and Marcia snuck in to see me in that scary locked down place (where all those sick people were and I was somehow in the wrong place). Ive come home to see soo many get well wishes, from Facebook to flowers and gift baskets... truly has made my days as its nice to know that people out there care about you... and that were not alone. Ive tried writing this over a dozen times this past week as I try and recuperate... each time finding I dont have the right things to say. Now... I just want to say a simple thank you, even though it does not convey how much it means to me... To Nicole, Brooklyn and Falon... you are the reason I came back. To my family.... you have been there for me through thick and thin, for everything I have thrown at you over the years and I cant say enough how much it means to me knowing that you are always by my side. To my friends... thank you, thank you for caring, for taking the time to help out my family, to look at your own life and realize that it could be any one of us at any time... and for hugging your family each and every day realizing how lucky we all are. I wake up each day and know that I am on my second chance. I go to bed each day knowing that Ive lucked out and have been able to spend that extra day with family and loved ones because of people who dedicate their lives to helping others. I kiss my wife and kids each and every night... knowing that each and every day could be my last... something I NEVER want to take for granted... each moment is amazing.
