Well, its official. The Band Jam Grass Roots Music Festival was the #1 live music event of the weekend in the Pittsburgh region. And I have to say, out of the hundreds of shows Ive done, I officially declare The Band Jam Grass Roots Music Festival as my #1. I cant thank you all enough, but I will try, starting with all my crazy friends. It seemed as I went through the crowd and the camping areas that half of the Freeport/Sarver area was at The Band Jam. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! If there is anything I can ever do for you, I will do my best. Bob Cupp... I cant thank you enough, as well as The Rock Station 977 for all you do for local music. Its been a great honor being associated with you, and for those of you who thing Bob just talks on the air waves with his golden voice, that aint the case. He was out there humping equipment (again), and the whole crew from 97.7 busted some butt. Lematt Productions... I pride myself on my production skills but you guys are it. The best. Thank you for all of your hard work, professionalism, and for working with us on this whole thing. Its obvious how much you guys just love good music, and love being a part of it. Please, go LIKE their page and 97.7s and thank them and tell them how much you enjoyed the show. I also cant thank my crew, and especially Jessie, enough. Shes there for everything I forgot, including drinking some water, eating something, and that damn cable I need that is always sitting in the basement instead of where I need it. Spud... you did a great job this weekend. Thanks for not letting me get sunburned. Christy, for picking up the slack for me lately and doing such a great job with the social media stuff. Diana for the coffee and support. You too Mo, for cutting your trip to Alaska short and coming out to support even though you werent playing. That is support. And of course our other artists that were with us again this year, Hoop Bear and Belly Dance by Malissa. Great stuff! Also, Carrie, probably the areas biggest local music fan, and a special shout to you for cleaning up the bowl after the show Saturday. Very appreciated. And speaking of clean, I couldnt help but notice on Sunday morning how clean everything was... campgrounds, areas where people were sitting, etc. The crowd at Band Jam was so respectful... no incidents, cleaned up after themselves, and everyone was so gracious, complimentary, and kind. You all ROCKED!!!! Now on to the bands. You know, the incredible talent we got to witness from 6p Friday to Midnight on Sunday! When you put a show together, and you have incredible artists kick it off the way they did on both Friday and Saturday, setting that bar so high... I mean Frank Vieira and Mark Ferrari on Friday... BAM!, and then Jim and Dave, The Banned, and Londona on Saturday.... all acoustic soloists or duets, probably the hardest thing to do, and man did they deliver. Everyone from there on out just brought their A game, and how about those guys in TeraChain Sky??? First gig ever!!! Great stuff. Like I had posted prior to the show, it is all local, people right in your back yards. Our lineup included artists from areas such as Beaver Falls, New Castle, Moon Township, Washington, Pittsburgh, Monroeville, AK Valley, Ford City, Kittanning, and right through Butler. Incredible talent! And speaking of those bands, congrats to Shag Dog Melon Head on winning the 2nd annual Grassy Award. Well done, well deserved, And also, to the band (and you know who you are) that tried to donate all of their merch sales and payment to our cause. I cant tell you how much that meant to us, it was certainly an emotional moment for me. However, I have always taken pride on paying the artists who play my shows (benefits aside), even if it aint much, and even if I have to go into my own pocket. You deserve it, I have such respect for you all. I hope we can do it next year again, but we still have to sort that out. We heard you loud and clear, you want to do it again, and everyone said how much they loved Coopers Lake Campground. I can tell you also, these were some fine folks to deal with, very supportive, very helpful, and very understanding, and I hope we can make it work. Like Rob from The Shiners said, tell 10 friends how great it was, and hopefully well see you back next year. I will get videos posted as soon as I can, probably a couple a day so watch for them. After a weekend full of the best in local music, and then a very stressful 18 hour day at my real job (if you are in local music, you have one of those), I need a damn massage (feeling that hill today!). Will pay cash. Rock on, and Support Local Music and those who also support it... Shady Lady Productions, The Rock Station 97.7, Grass Roots on The Rock Station 97.7 (Sunday nights at 7pm), and especially all those local bands!
