Well, last night turned out a lot better then it could - TopicsExpress

Well, last night turned out a lot better then it could have! Thousands of workers voted for Ferdinand Ramos, a hotel worker running for city council. He didnt win a seat, but he received more votes then every independent, and more votes then a number of candidates from the smaller parties! Congratulations Ferdinand! The workers of Vancouver have clearly shown their support for a worker running for council, and for a discounted transit pass for tourism and hospitality workers! Also, (I believe thanks to the significantly higher vote turnout this year) Vision thoroughly beat the NPA and their old-money, big-business, anti-union, and pro-pipeline backers. Im glad people came to their senses and went out to vote Vision last night! I just recently escaped Toronto (currently in the grips of Conservative John Tory) and I would hate to see more of the same here in Vancouver! And last but far from least, Im glad to see that Geoff Meggs held on to his seat in council! Im proud to have voted for him, and glad that many others felt the same way! Congratulations Geoff! My only real disappointment is that RJ Aquino didnt do better. Im new to the city, so I dont know what it means for the One City faction that he didnt win a seat, but I hope they stick with it and find a way to do better next time!
