Well, that was an interesting night to say the least. Wind started - TopicsExpress

Well, that was an interesting night to say the least. Wind started to come up, I had fallen asleep in the cockpit, when I awoke I found Tom was on the pontoon and the boat was about five meters off the pontoon and bashing against the yacht next to us...Tom had been trying to move her over!! I took in some anchor, but we realized she was no longer holding. So long rope from the side to the pontoon, and winched over, still not happy so we eventually managed to get her alongside with help from winches and bow thruster, Tom tried to bring up the anchor, but she was well and truly attached to a mooring line, not securing us though. Finished all the maneuvers around 2.30 am, the yacht, a Bendy toy (Beneteau)57, opposite us was also in trouble, but his anchor was not too bad, so he put two long lines ashore. All this under instruction from a Greek gentleman who had arrived to board a smaller yacht yesterday, he said he had been coming here for 15 years and knew what the wind could do, and the best way to be tied up, he was very polite, and apologized each time he made a suggestion, so no offense was taken, and he was impressed that Tom and I had managed to get the boat alongside in such a strong wind. So looks like well be staying for a day or two yet, judging by the forecast, and as long as the plastic jetty holds out we should be ok. I did try to take a video this morning, but it really doesnt show how strong the wind is, or the movement of Silfrania, although the noise on the video is the wind, and it drowns out my pathetic attempt at a commentary! Hopefully at some point today we will get some sleep, as we probably had around an hour between the two of us last night!
