Well, that was fun... Was supposed too get scoped today at 8 am. Had asked Ava if she could drive me to/from the hospital but she had a conference to attend at 7 am. So I turned to my friend, Jeff. He said OK. Then after an afternoon and evening of the dreaded prep, I was getting ready this morning when Ava called to say that the conference had been scheduled not in Dallas, but in McAllen. So since she wasnt conferencing, she could now drive me to/from hospital. I immediately called Jeff and fortunately caught him on line at his local Starbucks. But still, he had to get up earlier than was his want. Ava got me to the hospital at 8 am so I could fill out the requite paperwork. Got all the paperwork done and its off to Pre-Op. Got undressed, into the gown, had my temp and BP checked, had the electrodes attached, and the IV needle stuck in my hand. Was just about ready to be rolled into the OR when the anesthesiologist came in. I see you have stents, Mr. Richman, he said. When did you have them inserted? I told him in July 2014. Yeah, well thats a problem, says he. With those medicated stents you really should wait for 1 year before you have any type of surgery. Even though a colonoscopy isnt all that invasive (from the bodys standpoint) you are at a much higher risk of heart attack or stroke with your coronary history...and Id hate to put died of a colonoscopy on a death certificate. And so that was that. Off with the electrodes. Off with the IV needle. Off with the backless gown. Back into my clothes. No scope today or until next July. So Ava and I went to breakfast instead. [Much better than being scoped]
