Well, the first day of 2015 started with being woken up (not early, but earlier than I wanted) by my neighbour wanting access to my back garden - for a drain cover that didnt exist, to clear a drain that was blocked by another neighbour (hint: they are very closely related). I might have thought to tell him it didnt exist - if Id had my first coffee and wasnt still half asleep. I gave requested access, at which point he dug up a load of gravel and ground searching for said non-existent drain cover, only to find nothing - of course! Fortunately, I looked out my window just as he was advancing on my wooden tiles and expensive white gravel with a spade, just in time to tell him there definitely was no drain cover under there. At which point, he stared at me incredulously (or it could have been inanely) before asking me if I was sure. Erm, yes, considering I put it all down, and was not stupid enough to cover a drain access point, I was quite sure. Anyway, the outcome was (from what I overheard) the blockage had been caused by someone flushing baby wipes down the toilet (something Ive never been dim enough to do - perhaps he should look closer to home). Plus, when I went outside I discovered aforementioned neighbour had left a hole and a small amount of mess. Now, the area hed unsettled was not a nice bit of garden, just a tatty area beside my back porch, but it is MY area and I expected it to be left as he found it (a nice organised sort of mess). Actually I didnt really expect that, as this was the same neighbour who, earlier last year, threw my rubbish around my garden - but you get the picture. No, hes left me a small hole to refill and the stuff Id had all piled up reasonably neatly to be put back how it was. Happy new year, Washington Drive! NB: I did get wished a happy new year and have a nice quick chat with my two newest neighbours over the road, so this street isnt totally doomed. ;-)
