Well, the first full day in New Zealand almost complete – early finish this evening as jet lag is still buzzing around. Arrived at Auckland Airport yesterday under clear blue skies and a hot sun. Comfortably settled with Emm and Pete at their place in Point Chevalier - the first biryani of the visit packed away yesterday evening. All so familiar when I awoke this morning: slightly overcast (Auckland demonstrating ability to have 4 seasons in one day); warm breeze from the nearby sea pushing the lush tropical garden shrubs about; brightly coloured birds in the vicinity doing good impressions of squeaky gates and mobile phone ring tones. Communications set up; will be contacting our Kiwi friends; places to go, people to see, BBQ’s to attend. A very productive first day. On the topic of BBQ’s, first of the visit tomorrow with Mal & Tiina at their place in Takapuna. Meeting them and some family and friends for the first time – very excited.
