Well the situation has gotten even worse. The ER docs assured us they would keep Collin until a psych bed was found. Today another doc says he no longer meets the criteria for inpatient care because hes not acting out in the ER and has been calm. So they tell us we need to take him home. We tell them he and we are not safe for him to come home and we refuse to take him home. So now theyve called Goodhue County Child Protection because we are basically abandoning him. Child Protections plan for him, which even they say is not ideal, is for him to stay the weekend at the Von Wald Shelter....but he would be sharing a room with a 17-year -old male who has abused kids in the past. Really?!?! Im beyond frustrated right now. So we have told them to keep looking for a more appropriate placement and told them we will refuse to leave the ER until that happens. We just had a pizza delivered for supper and are eating in the lobby. Then we will head back to the ER and hang out with Collin - sleep here if we have to - until he gets help.
