Well, the week at least ended on a positive note. We allowed - TopicsExpress

Well, the week at least ended on a positive note. We allowed Debbie to stay home today and it was worth it. She ended up taking a nap for a good part of the afternoon. The child is obviously exhausted. Tonight we went to synagogue. Debbie was wonderful during the service. She truly has come far with this. She made sure she was on the same page as me. At first she needed help to find them and then she started doing that on her own. She cant read a lick of Hebrew but I thought it was pretty damn cool that she wanted to at least be on the same page in the prayer book. She also went up to the front and lit Shabbat candles with me and several other women, and then at the end the Cantor invited her up to say the prayer over the challah. Guess who went up there, joined in the prayer, and got a hunk of bread? How cool! It was nice to see her engaged in Shabbat services. Oh, and on a side note, during the service she looked at me and whispered, I love you, followed by a huge shit-eating grin! She turned to Vince and pulled his heartstrings too! Sigh. As frustrating as Autism is, Debbie is one amazing girl! xoxo ~ Julie
