Well this time of year always hits a tough spot for me. You see lots of people do not know that in my younger days I moonlighted as a member or Chunky Dales Yes I am proud of my days as lathering up the body with a mixture of baby oil and green bottle polo cologne and putting the old boys in the banana hammock. But with those great memories of the chubby chasers following me around like a fat kid at the bakery. I also have some sadness. You see 20 years ago while doing a performance in Phoenix we lost one of our team. Spanky my little buddy ,the thigh high fellow with the knock knees and over sized head.. You see our third member of the team Charles Allen Steele who was called 3 minute man because it took him 3 minutes to shave his back before each performance. Well we use to be known as pulling off the 4.3 move. For all you fans you remember the spin around and do a back flip and finish it off with the splits which usually caused a 4.3 on the richter scale. As we would do this with nothing on but a bow tie, a banana hammock and a smile our midget ( Spanky) would run and slide right under Steeles legs before Steele would do the splits. Well that tragic night 20 years ago was over shadowed as a little timing mishap, as we finished the splits we would take a bow first facing the crowd and then to give the ladies a special treat and show them the eye candy by showing them our back sides for extra tips. As this happens we usually would be knocked over with huge amounts of cash and a few female undergarments with phone numbers attached. Well this time we got screams like you hear ifRoseanne Barr had a nipple slip. It seems that poor Spanky slid right under Steele about time we did the 4.3 and all they could see was the poor guys feet going back and forth. He was suffocating and we didnt know it. By the time we figured out what happened and got him removed it was too late nobody in the whole place would even think about giving mouth to mouth after that trip.. And yes folks that was the end of Chunky Dales and the last time I ever walked across the stage in my bow tie and a rhinestone covered mankini .. Good times and great memories are the hardest to forget . I just get a little sad this time of year thinking about my little buddies last moments was looking at Steeles intestines.. I will be out of town on Thursday so this is my throwback Thursday . Please give a quick thought to my late friend Spanky..
