Well….this week is an important week for me. Around a year ago, I made the decision that it was time for a change. I woke up from a nap on June 3 last year, only to find this most beautiful inspiring show on; Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition. The show was halfway over, but I decided to watch it anyway. This episode was about Tony, a 49 year old man who was well over 400 pounds. The point of the show is to have an extreme transformation within one year. And in this year, he was thrown all sorts of obstacles…joblessness, homelessness, a broken engagement from his fiancé, and the tragic death of his son. Anything and everything was thrown at him, and he overcame it. I knew I was not happy with my weight and who I was as a person. I had a really good chat with my boss Wayne on June 5 of last year, and it really opened my own eyes, and how I saw myself, and how others saw me. I knew what I had to do. The first step to beginning the journey was to drop the negative. He began teaching me how to do this, but I know that I have a long way to go. This year has had its ups and downs. I am writing to let you all know that I am recommitting myself to my goals. After watching these last two newest episodes of the show that started it all for me, I know that fire is still in me to get down to my goal weight, and to become the person I want to be. I want to thank everyone who has been with me since the very beginning. It means so much to me that you are cheering me on along the way. I want to thank the people that I have met this year and who have joined me along the way. From the trainers, to the gym buddies, to the TOPS group members….THANK YOU. You are always just a text or Facebook message away. Sometimes I try to stand up on my own two feet, but when I fall, you guys are right there, without me even asking for that hand to help pick me back up. You guys know who you are, and I hope that our friendships can be long ones. And I want to thank the negative people, because if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have known how to rise above. I know I am not there yet, I have a long way to go. By the end of the month I will have my new milestones made, and I will take another full-length body shot and compare it to the one I took in February. I will also let you know how many pounds I’ve lost over the one year journey. July 1 will be the official start of year 2. I can’t wait to get started….who is with me???
