Well to quote Tony Blair, when he saw his first landslide victory - TopicsExpress

Well to quote Tony Blair, when he saw his first landslide victory as Prime Ministerial Candidate back in 1997, “Is this even Constitutional?”. That was the first thought that came to my mind as I saw the NDA race past majority mark in an era that has seen coalition governments very thinly balanced on unreliable coalition partners coming together for power. Today, as we wake up to a new beginning, where we know the nation has decisively elected a government, a government that will act after a decade that has ruined the hopes of the people of the country. We might as well say, finally we have a government. This is for all those who supported us wholeheartedly in our endeavour to bring about change, as the NDA under the leadership of Narendra Modi ji, showered us with their blessings and gave us this historic mandate. To each of those, who believed in us, who stood for us and by us, campaigned for us, voted for us, worked selflessly for us. As the Shiv Sena, we won 18 out of 20! (At one point leading on all 20) Shiv Sena-BJP Mahayuti clean sweeping Maharashtra, winning decisively. In all this, one person missed the most, is Hon’ble Shri Balasaheb Thackeray, as my grandfather and leader. However, he proved that he lives in the mandate the people have given us. His blessings helped us fight this election so successfully under the leadership of Uddhavji Thackeray and gave us the confidence to take on all political fire. I thank each one of you for this win. Today it is a victory, and as the feeling of being the government sinks in, it is a responsibility to serve all, that we shoulder with pride. This is to assure each one of you, that to those who voted for us, we will work hard to serve you and respect the faith you reposed in us. To those who dint, we will work hard, not through favours and appeasement but through work, to win your hearts so that we build the trust that we are here to work for good. Finally, a lot of politics has been seen, heard, felt in the past few months. The elections results have been clear, decisive. I wouldn’t want to use the word ‘decimated’ for the opponents, but yes, we hope to decimate the malpractices introduced by them in the system. The time for political potshots, long gone with election season. Now as we work, lets talk development, not politics. Once again, thank you to everyone, and we are here to serve for good!
