Well today was a really nice refresher from a week spent at tactical ops training pad. Me and the rest of the guys got a real good shot of the drowsiness in almost every class lol, but we got through alright. Getting to do a real to life I.e.d lane 2 mile course in a convoy operated by just 12 of use guys put the whole point of our job into perspective. It was pretty sweet :) and no.. my truck didnt get hit by an I.e.d but several other did and it was really legit getting to practice calling main and calling the I.e.ds in and calling in nine line med-evacs. It was an eye opening experience, just to get to see what a part of what our job truly entails when it comes to being deployed to a hostile war zone. I love getting to drive these trucks and its a pretty cool job. We got to drive the up - armored vehicles on the I.e.d lane too, so just one door on these vehicles weighs 700 pounds :). We learned alot of other stuff at tac ops this week, along with doing a legit $14 million dollar simulation where we got put in Afghanistan. That was pretty cool, our convoy got ambushed by rpg s and machines gun fire while we were running convoy supply routes to different f.o.bs (forward operating bases) along the m.s.r. There was one point where our lead truck was hit by an I.e.d and almost immediately after the second truck got hit by an rocket propelled grenade launcher and before I knew it... my humvee was the last one still intact. Immediately one of my buddies our truck commander took over and started calling in q.r.f (quick response force) while I was on the turret firing on terrorists who were all over in the building with rockets and machines guns. Lol. It was an amazing experience... and i learned so much this week. Btw... Our convoy got destroyed about 30 minutes later :b but it was cheap cause the sergeant running running the simulation wanted to end the simulation. And our turret ran outta ammo lol, and we were handing our m-4s to the gunner and eventually we ran dry am and it was over. Anyways.. thats thats the update on training:). Ive only got till April 9 which is my graduation. Thanks to everyone and my family of course who have prayed and given me their support throughout basic training and advanced individual training thus far. Also wanna thank Sarah Michelle Beagle who has supported me throughout the past several months, I love her lots and she means the world to me. ^_^ cant wait to get to my duty station and start my job in Alaska:)
