We daily offer many varieties of lean protein, whole grains, fruits, vegetables and low fat dairy. Foods and beverages being served in schools has to meet USDA nutrition standards. 2. What you see on school menus is not what you find at the grocery store. Anything served in schools has to meet nutritional standards. Items like toaster pastries, super doughnuts or chicken nuggets, pasta and pizza on the menu are developed specifically for school nutrition programs and are different than what you see in the store or have in your pantry. Popular food brands have school food service versions which are lower in calories, lower in sugar, lower in fat content, lower in sodium, and made with whole grains. 3. Locally Grown. Carrollton City Schools Nutrition Program is committed to purchasing locally grown fruits and vegetables and serves items daily in each school. 4. Baked NOT Fried. To provide the healthiest items, foods are steamed, baked and roasted. 5. Carrollton City School Food is GOOD food. We serve high quality food at breakfast and lunch.
