Wellness Wednesday- STEPBACK LUNGE: Glutes, Hamstrings, Quadriceps Primary Targeted Muscle Group: Description: From a standing position, step back with one foot. Keep the toes of both feet pointed forward. Keeping the knees aligned directly over your feet, lower the back knee toward the floor. The depth of the lunge may vary but generally the back knee will be anywhere from one inch off the ground to lightly touching the floor. Maintain an upright posture and return to the starting position. Alternate the movement between each leg for the desired number of repetitions. Tip: Keep the abdominals tight. As you descend to the bottom of the movement keeping the abs tight will help you maintain an upright position and avoid leaning forward. This will also assist your balance throughout the movement.
