Went on an eight mile hike today. Looking for my two favorites - TopicsExpress

Went on an eight mile hike today. Looking for my two favorites trees in the forest. Found one of them. The other eluded me. Saw oodles of zooming wheels passing by, in and out...they hardly noticed my meager existance. Glad of that. I noticed that all the gullies and waterways run to the center of the valley...down to the Merced, interesting. Ever though I walk alot everyday I got tired easily...must be the hot air. So I sat after awhile in the dry oak leaves and watched the ants chase after the little red minute mites. They were too busy munching the decayed leaves...found a campground with a restroom but no water and lots of people...so does everyone bring there own water when they visit the Park? It was just about as noisy up here as it gets in the city today. Suprise! Rounded the corner by the Nose...way up on the ledge people were hanging on...mighty brave! Not that I was in a hurry to do the last 4 miles, but it was prettier sight wise heading into the home stretch. There was a real pathway...and flowers in the fields, and it was cooler...and I found a magical place that looked like the path that Handsel and Gretel took through the forest as they followed the path of cookie or was it bread crumbs. And yes we had rafters afloat down the lazy river! And I think I found a real nice place to take a someday swim...deep and green and cool. However I am not that brave. The idea is nice. I ran into the old moss womans garden and three deer grazing in the meadow. Now that was a sight of romance and beauty...the green meadows reaching far and away across the valley, the grasses blowing gently to and fro and the deer perking their heads above the tallest stems of the brightest green I have ever seen. Off in the distance the Great Half Dome stretched its mighty core upwards into the palest of pale blue skys while white puffs danced and lifted their haze over the top of the dome. Yosemite is pure magic in its pleasurable beauty. My walk took me back across the road and through an ancient boulder field, the beginnings of the Native American Celebration Reconstruction Area and straight through the 100 tents housed at Camp 4. I made it home and was blessed to arrive safely.
