Went to Nevada County Airport today to watch the air tankers reload for the fire near Dog Bar Road. Had a perfect spot, in the shade, right next to the fence. After about an hour a damn Ophir Fire engine showed up and needed to get through the gate, so had to move. Probably were going to use them to wash windows or something!! LOL. Amazing to watch. From the time they touched down to lift off was less than 15 minutes. They hot loaded them which means engines were not shut down. There is a loading nozzle in the tail area. The radio was really hectic with evacuations and fire related calls. My hat is off to all those involved, with special kudos to Nevada County Dispatch. They handled it like the pros they are.
