Went to a womens conference on Nehemiah. . .notes on being the hands and feet of Jesus. . . 1)He was a man of compassion and courage and commitment 2)God put it in his heart to do something for others...identify...we were slaves ourselves at one time (to sin). The book is about removing the disgrace. . .obedience leads to freedom 3) Nehemiah pierced the lies with the sword of the spirit... 4) He prayed specifically (and fasted)...we live on THIS side of grace...love like Jesus loved 5) Persevere. . .he was in all the way with all his heart 6) Take hold of what God took hold of you for. 7) Praise. . .it pushes the enemy back The book is about rebuilding. . .different from building from new. Rebuilding always means rubble, you sift through the burnt stuff, and use what you have. 8) The joy and the adventure is outside of the comfort zone. 9) Reaching out always leads you to the end of yourself where you realize, Im not enough which then leads us right to Jesus, who is enough. 10) Reaching out reminds us of where we came from and of our salvation. Remember the grace given and we can give it out to others. 11) Reaching out. . .a common entry point into being a part of Gods story. 12) When you say Lord, use me, that is when you enter into HIS story. Hhhhmmmm, I think I like this book of Nehemiah. Ive read it more than once but Kelly Minter helped me to see it in a whole new light. . .and it could be. . .that over time, I am now able to identify with it, maybe. . .just a little. This is why we should always read the Bible. We go through different seasons and what we didnt understand at one time becomes clear in another season of life. Isnt it great how the Bible written years ago still applies today to all of us? I love that I serve a God who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. I will be reading the whole book of Nehemiah again on my own. I challenge you to read it with these rough notes and maybe you will see it more clearly. Maybe God has another book in His Word for you. Pray and then open it. Its a grand adventure!
