Went to an ICICI ATM last night. While I was waiting outside for my turn, I saw an elderly gentleman struggling with the ATM. He came out and told me that the machine is not working properly and after two attempts he had not got his cash. I attempted to withdraw 5000/- bucks. No payment. Right when I was leaving, the cash came out. Rs 20000/-. I rushed out to see if I could catch the gentleman. Hailed him and called him inside the ATM. I asked him how much had he punched in for ? He said Rs 20000/-. It was his money and the machines F*** up. I asked him to count the amount and give me Rs 5000/- if the total was 25000/-. It was 20000/-. There entered another human and tried to help. He withdrew some money and the ATM worked perfectly. The elder thanked me and I said that a Fauji wont run away with the extra cash. He said that he was also a retired Wg Cdr. The other human introduced himself as Retd Lt Col. He withdrew another 2000/- to check the ATM. We hugged and said bye to each other. Bye said, this is the Fauji Blood in our Body. Change of scene. Now I proceeded to withdraw my money. Two youngsters entered the ATM, were in a hurry. I politely asked them to leave and await their turn. They wont move and got argumentative.They didnt know of the chaos the machine had created, so I explained. No good response, they wont leave. Sorry to tell what happened there after. Humour in and out of Uniform came out. Children of rich guys will remember, till they they live. I got Two more fauji friends in my locality, courtesy this incidence.
