Went to the premier performance of Bright Star, the new musical - TopicsExpress

Went to the premier performance of Bright Star, the new musical from Steve Martin and Edie Brickell last night at the Old Globe. For my San Diego music friends who are into bluegrass and traditional music I would highly recommend if you like live theater and musicals. Overall was really good, and the music and band (who are on stage and totally incorporated into the production) were absolutely great and the staging (guy who did Wicked, Ragtime and Sweeny Todd on Broadway) was extremely cool. And if budget is an issue go for the partial view seats to the front on the sides (we were in the 4th row). They were about $40 and if there was anything we couldnt see we sure didnt know it. Oh, and there is a new restaurant at the outside sculpture garden at the SD Art Museum that might be the best thing that has happened in the park in the last 100 years. Great craft beer selection, really fine food for reasonable prices and nice atmosphere. Nice to have an alternative to the Prado, who had over an hour wait.
