Went to the so-called Lompoc bar in Portland, Ore. Me and three brothers, Lompoc High grads all. First, greeted by guy wearing Red Sox hat who welcomed us to the Lom-pock bar. Second, bar logo is in black and yellow, colors of Lompoc arch rival, Cabrillo High. Third, nothing remotely Lompoc about this place. Complete rip-off, and this was the main reason for the four of us to drive an hour from my brothers house in Washington and endure the pretentious psuedo-State Street vibe that has enveloped at least this part of what was once a working mans city. Restoration Hardware and a Williams-Sonoma in the same block. We fled and hit an Army surplus store and a pawn shop on the outskirts, where I ogled a Winchester saddle-ring carbine with a serial number that put its date of manufacturer about 1910. Thats where youll find the Lompoc in Portland.
