Were curious, did you use a trainer after rescuing your dog? If so, why? What was your motive? In light of a few of our rescue dogs being returned to us recently for easily correctable behavioral issues like too much exuberance, or separation anxiety, we want to remind everyone that dogs need time to adjust to new settings more than any type of training. For those that have met our ambassador dog Persia, you can get an idea of how love and patience can pay off. Shes never been trained, and she gets accolades about being perfect behavior-wise everywhere we go. For those that want to use a trainer, consider--there is no one training style, and many different ideologies. You should visit any prospective trainer first--see how they interact with their clients/dogs, and then make a decision on whether its a good fit or not. And whatever you do, dont fall into this lie: that a dog needs shocking to learn! Some people may need to be wearing those collars instead. https://positively/contributors/when-good-rescue-groups-make-bad-dog-training-decisions/
