Were in the middle of an evolutionary storm in the entire process of creation and distribution -- were going to have to adapt to new technologies. Authors, artists, musicians, creators of all kinds, now have an unprecedented access to the audience -- and vice-versa. But we do not yet have a profit model in place that rewards creators fairly. Amazon, functioning as distributor, has put themselves in the middle between audience and artist. What we get from Amazons distribution system is a credible way of reaching millions of people, but we pay a high price for it -- we give them control over the market. I dont think this state of affairs will last forever -- perhaps the publishers themselves can create their own ebook distribution system as an alternative...?
