West Virginians, you may not know this, but our state Constitution - TopicsExpress

West Virginians, you may not know this, but our state Constitution has a keep and bear arms clause that is far stronger than the Second Amendment. We are West Virginians. And we will call this what it is. Not constitutional carry, but 3-22 carry. We have the right to keep and bear arms under section 3-22 of our state constitution. A tax on that inherent right (a permit) is wrong. We do not believe that a permit should be required to defend your life and the lives of your loved ones. Section 3-22 reads: A person has the right to keep and bear arms for the defense of self, family, home and state, and for lawful hunting and recreational use. [emphasis added] The West Virginia Citizens Defense League (WVCDL) has a bill drafted for 3-22 carry, and legislators ready to sponsor it. But you, as West Virginias gun owners need to be prepared for the backlash that is coming. The Sheriffs association is likely to scream loudly about 3-22 carry. They will almost certainly cite officer safety. There are two reasons why this is garbage. 1. The permit fees go to the Sheriffs discretionary fund. Its his play money. Of course hes going to scream. 2. The officer safety line is a load of garbage because the WVSP trains every law enforcement officer to treat every single encounter as if the subjects involved are armed. This will be no change for them. So start now talking to your friends, your neighbors and your legislators. (Its not too early to call or email them.) Get out in front of this backlash. Dispel the garbage thatll be coming out in opposition to 3-22 carry.
