West gets 16 strikeouts from Macey Newbary, win 7-2 over Asia-Pacific An outstanding effort by Macey Newbary led West to a 7-2 win in seven innings over Asia-Pacific on Monday at Bruce Layton Field. West got the win thanks in large part to Newbarys dominant, 16-strikeout performance. Newbary allowed two earned runs, three hits and three walks over seven innings. Even in defeat, Lovely Redaja played well for Asia-Pacific. Redaja reached base two times in the game for Asia-Pacific. She scored one run and had one RBI. She homered in the sixth inning. Redaja handled Wests lineup with ease, racking up eight strikeouts. Redaja allowed no earned runs on five hits and no walks over four innings. Adessa Gagner led Wests offensive threat, as she got on base four times in the game. She singled in the first, third, and sixth innings. Redaja was the games losing pitcher. West stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the third, scoring two runs on an error. One run in the bottom of the fifth helped Asia-Pacific close its deficit to 2-1. An RBI single by Hyacinth Abanilla set off Asia-Pacific rally. Finally, Newbary induced an inning-ending strike out from Mary Grace Manalon. West added five more runs in the top of the sixth. The inning got off to a hot start when Kaylee Rosenbaum singled, scoring Megan Delaney. One run in the bottom of the sixth helped Asia-Pacific close its deficit to 7-2. A solo home run by Redaja fueled Asia-Pacifics comeback. West stopped the rally after Newbary got Trishia Mae Tiozon to ground out.
