Western PA Humane Society|wpahumane.org 1101 Western Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15233 412.228-5870 (W) | 412.228.5870 (Fax) facebook/westernpahumanesociety Hello Fosters & Dog Walkers~ WE ARE LOOKING FOR A FOSTER HOME FOR A DOG NAMED WOODY. Many of the dog walkers on this list will know Woody, as this sweet old man has quickly become a volunteer favorite. Woody was owner surrendered when his owner grew too old to care for him. HE IS A 10 YEAR OLD BRINDLE LAB/BOXER MIX (Woody is not very big at only 46 lbs.) THAT HAS BEEN IN THE SHELTER NOW FOR 50 DAYS. DUE TO HIS LENGTH OF STAY, WOODY IS GROWING DEPRESSED AND HE HAS NOT BEEN ACTING LIKE HIMSELF LATELY. We have been trying to give him lots of extra attention and he has been staying in the investigations office instead of the kennel. The kennel environment is too stressful for him. However, he is just not snapping out of it and we do not want him to deteriorate to the point that he is not adoptable. We know that his age is working against him and that his adoption may take a little longer. I would really like to get him out of here and ideally, I would like to keep him in foster until he can find his forever home. The shelter will be working on special marketing for Woody during this time to help get him adopted. I would ask that the foster family act as adoption ambassadors for Woody while they have him. WE WOULD DEFINITELY ENCOURAGE THE FOSTERS TO HELP FIND GOOD ADOPTERS FOR THE DOG. And we would be asking for any information that makes him special and unique so that we can share this in our marketing pieces. We would like to start a blog for him and the foster family will be integral in this process. If these responsibilities sound as though they are something you could handle, please let me know and we can speak further. I know that a foster without an end date may make people apprehensive; but we can help support the family depending upon their needs. WOODY HAS ALWAYS EXHIBITED GOOD, SOLID BEHAVIOR. He has gone to many off site events. If the foster family that agrees to take him has another dog in the home, we would need to do a meet and greet. He is not really playful; so a high energy rambunctious dog in the home will not work with him. Otherwise, we feel that Woody could be successful in many different situations. Although he is a mix of large breed dogs, Woody is not very big at only 46 lbs. Please help me get Woody out of here. We really want to see this sweet old boy succeed. Thanks! Jessica Dettling Director of Volunteer & Foster Services
