It is also a great opportunity for all of us to recognize the collective strength and resources of Western Wayne County: 18 communities, 12 colleges and universities, several major freeways, a major airport, a diverse collection of businesses, low unemployment rates, and strong property values. Almost 300 people gathered to hear about the favorable economic climate from David Sowerby, CFA of Loomis, Sayles & Company and the Regional Business Update from Mary Kramer of Crain’s Detroit Business. Ms. Kramer also did an outstanding job as our moderator. The event would not have been possible without the dedication and support of Dan West, President, CEO Livonia Chamber of Commerce, and his team along with our many sponsors which included: Bank of America Winchester Consulting Group Ford Motor Company OHM Alpha USA Ritter GIS QMC Bright House Networks Comcast Business Crain’s Detroit Business Davenport University DTE Energy Emerson Process Management Henry Ford College & Dearborn Public Schools ITC Holdings Corp. Miller Canfield Parkside Credit Union Plante Moran PNC Bank Schoolcraft College Schostak Brothers & Company Southeast Michigan Community Alliance St. Mary Mercy Livonia Hospital Tucker, Young, Jackson, Tull, Inc. Waste Management Western Wayne County Fire Department Mutual Aid Association While we are all happy to see progress in Detroit, we also need to acknowledge the attributes and economic development taking place in the rest of Wayne County, particularly here in our 18 western Wayne County communities. That’s why we gathered on September 25, 2014. We used this occasion to learn and meet others so we can make our communities, our businesses, and our region better. We are making a difference and Western Wayne County is a great place to live, work, play, worship and learn! In the spirit of cooperation and collaboration, Tracey Schultz Kobylarz Redford Township Supervisor & Chairperson of the Conference of Western Wayne County
