Heres a survey for our UK community - wed really love you to take part and share it as widely as possible. In the last two decades the magazine has been very disappointed by the way the traditional political parties have treated the dog in society. Usually the only time they figure in legislation is in a hideous knee-jerk reaction to something. Wed like sensible dog policies and we want to prove to the other parties they are far from the vote losers they fear. UKIP have shown how one policy not offered by the big three can change the political landscape. Very often as many as one in four people dont bother to vote as they feel their voice isnt heard or the candidates are all as bad as each other. We want to change that, we want the one in four households in the UK that own dogs to have a voice and to use it. And the 80% of people who actively like dogs to shape policy that will make this country a better place for all our best friends. And who knows maybe a more compassionate Britain might make the whole country better - certainly make politics more relevant to the non-voters. This idea was first raised by our Editor Beverley Cuddy in a speech at the first ever UK Dog Bite Prevention Conference organised by Victoria Stilwell. It was so warmly received with many people wanting to join and even stand in the next election that were taking it to the next level.
