Weve just shared profiles and photos of the three students killed - TopicsExpress

Weve just shared profiles and photos of the three students killed in Friday afternoons tragic plane crash in Arenas Valley, and with that, were going to take a break from this story for a bit. We are part of this place, and while we strive to do our job to report the news, we also take seriously our duty to build and support this community. While I know that there are beautiful stories about each of these young people, just like the one about Michael featured in the Sunday Journal, our reporters will not be contacting friends and family members to seek them out. Rather, we are opening our hearts and the pages of our Tuesday issue to those affected by this tragedy. Well do our best to include all the letters, photos, remembrances and articles that we receive about these three young people, their lives and the tragedy that cut them short. We may receive many, or we may get none, but by offering ourselves in this way, it is my hope that we can help further the process of healing and of finding what meaning there is to be had from such a senseless event, rather than adding to the burden of those who are already suffering. If you have an item to be included in the Tuesday edition, please email your contribution to [email protected] by 9 p.m. Monday, May 26. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Ella Jaz Kirk, Michael Sebastian Mahl, Ella Sala Myers and the pilot of the airplane, as well as the entire Aldo Leopold school community. — Nickolas Seibel, publisher Silver City Daily Press and Independent
