We’re very happy to share some really exciting updates from one of our water projects in Tanzania! Last week we received news of the successful completion of a Rainwater Harvesting System for Namnyaki primary school in Tanzania. In dry areas of Africa such as Tanzania, precious water is lost as a result of surface runoff. Rainwater Harvesting Systems collect water through a structure of downpipes, which is then stored in a tank capable of holding thousands of litres of water, ready for the community to access. We also received news of the instalment of water filters, which play an essential role in ensuring that the water which has been collected is clean and safe to drink. Water filters reduce the risk of potentially lethal waterborne diseases. Yesterday, The Long Well Walk requested the transfer of further funds to Tanzania so that work on phase 2 of the project- to build a latrine block for the children- can begin. We have already received pictures from our partners in Tanzania showing members of the community starting to dig the latrine pits, in anticipation of work beginning on the latrine blocks! Wed like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support. Without you, projects such as this one would never get off the ground. For further information on this project and others we support please visit thelongwellwalk.org where you will also find further information on how to donate! #walkingforwater
