We’ve got to get our mojo back as a country. We had magic as a nation. There was nothing we couldn’t do – build dams, invent the telephone, create movies, launch the Internet. But that magic seems gone. Last week, Guitar Trader of San Diego, manufacturer of guitars, said it plans to close. Guitar Trader? That’s downright un-American. When we think of the guitar, we think of it as an appendage of every great rocker, from Elvis to Dave Mustaine. Now, China makes more guitars than we do. I don’t believe our best days are behind us. But we have to wake up. The unconscious incompetent walk around as if everything is fine. They think everything will pass and be fine. The conscious incompetent know something is wrong or something is going on. And although they can’t do anything about it, they want to know more. The conscious competent learns what is missing and if they can’t correct it, they find someone who can. The unconscious competent are fully equipped to deal with the change and competent to do it automatically, but have to be stirred to action. Which category do you fall into? And what does it take to stir you? Guitar Trader is just the last setback to our local economy and the American economy in general. What do we need to do to stop the hemorrhaging and make “Made in the USA” mean something again? We took a step recently in trying to focus on San Diego as a hub of innovation and creative ideas by staging the first Make It In America conference. We will continue to do the same this year. We invite you to share your ideas on how to keep America great. And let us know if you want to be part of this movement to keep “making it in America.” utsandiego/news/2014/dec/31/guitar-trader-closes-store/?utm_source=Voice+of+San+Diego+eNewsletter+List&utm_campaign=c99eb4c907-Morning_Report_format_updated_3_24_14_new_replicat&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_c2357fd0a3-c99eb4c907-83926529&goal=0_c2357fd0a3-c99eb4c907-83926529
