What After the Wake Luckily for me I woke at the age of eighteen I was a senior in high school...1993 I read the lips of elders who would talk to me More I read the pages...more that I would see Understood I was a threat to the powers that be Knowledge was the key that set me free Twenty years of drawing water from the well Two decades digesting knowledge of self Malcom lit the spark....Martin made me dream Marcus told me I came from kings Blackman is God...said my brother Khalid W Farrad...Noble Drew Ali Ivan Van Sertima...Dr. Ben John Henrik Clark...giants amongst men The switch was flicked...then the lights came on Farrakhan...France Fanon Langston Hughes...Paul Lawrence Dunbar Richard Wright helped open up the bars All of these people and many more Gave me an understanding of what they fought for Knowledge of self helped protect my neck Like dragonskin around a Kevlar vest Through all these years of witnessing greatness Culture conversations...caused spirit vibrations Every now and then I get frustrated Stripped naked...growing impatient while Im waiting Waiting for the new trains to pull into old stations Waiting for the sleep to become awakened Im at a different plane...a higher altitude I find that those who claim to be awakened appear afraid to move Theyll talk all day about the pineal gland But they minds draw a blank when you try to talk plans Theyll tell you the chemical compounds of melanin But wont tell you how to escape this hell we in I understand the power of enlightened eyes But none of that means nothing if its not applied If we are as enlightened as wed like to believe What about investment...building up industry If we understand that we was first on Earth Then its a shame we dont know how the market works Communal Economics points our direction To a new future linking Kemetic connections They martyrs and matriarchs rolling in their graves They ashamed we still struggling the same pain today We have the knowledge that can light the way Just to know who we are wont evoke change That change is necessary for a movement forward Its stupid not to think so..go and ignore it #Toomuchlightblindstheeyes
