What GREAT day! When the reporter that did the story on me, Bob Saar, found out I was boondocking it in the Walmart parking lot, he offered to let me come stay at his place (dont worry, the fact he is a good guy was confirmed by multiple people). He lives in an old haunted mansion, occupied by 4 ghosts. (more on that another time). Beeeyoootiful place. But HE is fascinating. A photo-journalist during the Vietnam war, accomplished musician, and published novelist. I spent the day with him driving around the city as he gathered footage of a recent flood for another project. I saw beautiful architecture, went down Snake Alley, had dinner with 4 of his friends, who treated me like inner circle. THIS is why I do what Im doing. I eat chili out of a can, camping out of the van days on end; pay to take showers in truck stops... I can go days (so far 10 is my record) without sleeping in a real bed. All of that is the admission price for days like today and to meet people like Bob Saar.
