What I took from the City Debate and The candidates: First off.. The Mayor Marty Griffen was so comfortable that he could have been wearing his pajamas.. That is to say..He aint worried bout nuthin.. It shouldnt be like that people. He should at least be a little worried.. Jason Smith had a lot of innovative ideas and made a lot of sense when it came to the issues.. Will they let a democrat be the Mayor? I doubt it.. But I hope dude does win.. We need a fresh, young perspective in the city... John Wilson had some very practical answers. I liked him.. I wouldnt be mad if he won.. Some of the issues brought up were... Blight in the City. I think everyone touched on that.. Revamping and Redeveloping Downtown.. Leaf and Garbage Pick Up.. Crime in the First Ward (South Side). The most crime in the city happens in the First ward.. The mentality of our youth in the First Ward came up as well... Also the Storm water utility. They must like Daniel Greer in the Third Ward because no one is running against him. and thats how he came off.. Like he wasnt worried. Hes been on City Council for 16 years.. Smh.... In the 5th ward.. You have Andy Frounfelker. It felt like Andy didnt want to be there to me.. He has been on City Council for two terms.. Susan Murdie is running against him. I liked Susan she was the most energetic of all the candidates.. She kept her answers short and sweet. She called Daniel and Andy out on some of their BS too.. After we lost Carl in the 1st ward.. Arlene Robinson took over.. Id have to say that I liked her and think she should get a shot. It actually felt like she was concerned with the issues in the community. Michelle Woods is running against her. It felt like she was a little more disconnected and thats just how it felt to me. On the issues they didnt differ to much. This is just an overview.. I went to get subject matter for articles and I have plenty. So Stay Tuned.. -Derak Foreal-
