What Im thankful for today is that I knew a man as more than a faithful client. For 25+ years I cut Bill Oestereichs hair, and thats a unique bond. But it was for the first time this year I asked him to take my family on a guided trip through the Gettysburg battlefield. His passion for the subject was evident and his knowledge was unparalleled. Just as heartwarming was his wife Marilyns attentiveness to the tour, how she reminded him of things he forgot. What a bond those two had. Inspirational. And to top it off, in honor of my father he also this year made me this shadow box to hold an antique clipper I owned. So after almost 30 years of knowing this man, just this year these two things take place? With tears in my eyes I acknowledge that someone, somewhere, has a plan for us, and its more wonderful than anything we can come up with on our own. My heart is heavy tonight but Im blessed to have known you. Rest in peace. I want Bill Oestereich to know your dad was a gentleman and a scholar. I hope your family rests in the thought of the lives he touched.
