What Is It About Travel People Love? For me travel has been an all-consuming passion.. I havent always felt this way but ever since I first dipped my toes in the traveling scene to Thailand, I was hooked. My whole plans are geared around travel now. To me, its not only awesome experiencing life in other peoples eyes, seeing amazing sights that are completely different to where I have been living and tasting delicacies, for me I like the challenge as well. I like being thrown in the deep end of situations, its all an adventure and all your creating is an amazing story you will never forget and friends on the way! Why Are the Main Reasons People Travel? These are my ideas in no particular order. 1. To challenge yourself When I entered countries like Serbia and Bosnia, being woke up to guards on the train with AK-47s made me uneasy, having no one apart from myself speak English also made the journey interesting, I had to find other ways to communicate to get to accommodation and get around. 2. To enjoy new experiences Im not sure where you are from, but Caving in old mine shafts (Budapest) or chillin with wild Monkeys (Bali) arent exactly every day things most people would do. 3. To find yourself Seeing what you actually enjoy when entering foreign countries shows you what you actually enjoy instead of tagging along with current trends. Especially if tasks are physically demanding!! 4. To learn a new language While staying in a country for long enough you start picking up common words, such a great feeling communicating with local people in foreign countries. If you can hold a conversation with someone in a different language your doing well!! Im still working on my Thai - sawatdee kap, sabaidee mai kap - Hello, how are you 5. To experience new cultures On the final days of Saint Anthonys festival in Lisbon, only a few locals remained. When me and a friend went for a late night stroll, locals welcomed us in to their little party and taught us how they partied which was awesome!! Not to mention the great Porto they gave us. Couldnt understand a word they said but it was super fun haha 6. To party or just to have fun As you can imagine, the Full Moon Party in Koh Phangan is probably the biggest beach party around. My experience there was so awesome, got there just as the sun went down and took a tuk tuk to the party beach. The streets were full of people just having a mad time and as you finally got to the beach, you see fire shows, fire signs and Thousands upon thousands of people partying until late hours of the next day. Such a good time! 7. To see new things I’ve been to see Auschwitz, climbed the Eiffel Tower, see the Big Ben, partied in Oktoberfest dressed as German as possible. Hung with elephants in the wild, and I can never travel within a 50km radius of a beach without checking it out. The noise of the beach and is a soothing sensation for me, as I was raised in a coastal town and have never been far from a beach. The History in Europe is mind blowing, if you have never been you have to check out the buildings there. Wow. Also have you ever been to a Castle and tried to ride a tank?? 8. To eat new food I like to try new stuff but I draw the line at some things. I did like sweet snails I tried in Portugal, Kangaroo burgers in Australia and crocodile pie in New Zealand but not a big fan of Huhu grubs, any type of liver or head and especially no balls haha. I did really enjoy the Pancake Boat cruise though, who would of though, 20 different toppings on 4 different flavoured pancakes.
