What Is It Like To Have Asperger Syndrome? As some of you know, - TopicsExpress

What Is It Like To Have Asperger Syndrome? As some of you know, Jaysons been having an extraordinarily difficult time this year in school, extended absences and many adjustments to his IEP. And, although I am extremely appreciative of all the help and understanding of a select few of the staff at his school, I feel that perhaps a small representation of just one of the things that he, as well as so many others like him, have to deal with daily, may provide so helpful insight. With his transition to middle school and a new and, honestly, confusing and complex schedule (even for us normal folk) just try to understand what is going on in his head and how brave he must be just to get on that van for school every morning and give it another try. Im hopeful that the new modifications to his schedule will help him find his love of learning again. Thank you to the teachers and aids that genuinely care for him and are struggling along with us. I know who you are, I can see it in your faces and am so grateful for you. Thankful to the Vernon PD Detective at the school yesterday that took the time just to talk with Jay until I got there...it meant the world to him and I, as well. There are no quick fixes when trying to accommodate these kids needs, even the new schedule will take some getting used to. But I am hopeful, and extremely proud of him. Awareness and information is so important in helping, I loved this video, it helps me to remember what hes going through when Im struggling to guide him through.
