What. The. F***?!?!??? As some of you may know, Im an Employment and Training Specialist. My job is to help SNAP recipients get good jobs that pay well enough to get them off assistance. The people I work with are hard working, intelligent, honest, and determined. The only thing separating them from you is a series of unfortunate events, the likes of which could happen to you at any time. The one overwhelming thing that keeps them on assistance is that most jobs dont pay enough money for people to live. You wanna eliminate food stamps? Fine. Raise the f****** minimum wage up to the $22hr it would be now if we had it set up today the same way we had it set up in the 1960s. Poor people are poor because they work 40-80hrs a week for--IF THEYRE EXTREMELY LUCKY/AT THE MOST--$10hr. Id like to see all of the future lawmakers who signed this pledge work and live and pay their bills and raise their families on $400 (pre-tax) a week. Which is more like $328 a week. Go ahead and prove me wrong.
