A ridge extends from a high pressure system over South Australia into southern and central inland Queensland, producing a dry and stable airmass over most of the state. Forecast for the rest of Friday - Fine and clear across most of the state. Isolated showers about the eastern districts north of Rockhampton, and mainly isolated showers and thunderstorms over the states far north. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds. Saturday 19 April - Fine and sunny over most of the state. Isolated showers about the tropical east coast, tending scattered with isolated thunderstorms over the far north. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, fresh at times over the far north. Sunday 20 April - The high over southeast Australia should maintain fine and mostly sunny conditions across most of Queensland. A trough lying over far southern Papua New Guinea, combined with increasingly moist northeasterly flow aloft should lead to showers increasing to rain areas and isolated thunderstorms over the northern Peninsula. Monday 21 April - The high will move into the Tasman Sea, and combined with the dry airmass it should maintain fine and mostly sunny conditions across most of Queensland. the trough over the far north should continue to produce scattered showers, rain areas and isolated thunderstorms over the northern Peninsula.
