What a day. Started off with a backup in my sewer line that got - TopicsExpress

What a day. Started off with a backup in my sewer line that got most of the floor wet in the laundry room. I ended up calling a plumber to clear the clog since it was beyond the capacity of my poor snake. The plumbers (two showed up) got the clog cleared and the water from the washing machine wasnt coming out the drain anymore. Of course that wasnt cheap. In the process of them working, I discovered my toilet was leaking water. So I tried to fix it after they left. Of course it broke, which meant I had to go to Lowes not only to get a steam cleaner for the rug in the laundry room but also new parts of the toilet. This all just before the Bengals game was to start and I was looking forward to relaxing and getting over this flu/cold Ive been dealing with for the past seven days. Nasty bug! Anyway, just before I left we discover the drain, which was working fine when the plumber was here because I emptied the washer THREE times, is backed up again and we have soap suds on the floor. So my wife called the plumbers again while I left to get the stuff. Only when I return I discover the flow pipe for the toilet wont work (so much for universal parts). So I have to go back to Lowes but before I can leave the plumbers show up again. Now I have to stay when I would rather not. Well 45 minutes later they deduce its not really a backup with the water, the soap suds just wont go down the drain (Im not making this up folks). Another check written and they are off and so I am. Then I get a call from my wife who tells me the washing machine isnt working anymore. As if this day cant get worse. Im really still feeling the effects of this bug and just want to relax, although thats what Ive been doing the past several days. Fortunately I got the washing machine working and started on the toilet. Jason and I got it put back together in less than 10 minutes. This cant be right consider how this day has been going.. To have something go so easy and quick. Just not right the way things have been going. And I was right. Just as the toilet was filling up and I was about it call it a day, the adjustable pipe popped up spewing water everywhere and giving us a scare. So we had to disconnect everything, pull out the pipe, lock it back in place, re-install it again, and then re-test.. This time it seems to be holding. By the time I got done I missed the Bengals game completely, which doesnt sound like it was a big loss upon hearing the score, and got to see and do things I never wanted to be a part of. Until I owned a house I never knew I was a carpenter, electrician, plumber, rug cleaner, and all around handy-man. What can I say folks. Just another day in paradise here at the DePeel household!!!
