What a day! Today marked my 6th anniversary as pastor of Pleasant Hope Baptist Church. It has been a truly remarkable ride and I am so appreciative of the journey! In this short amount of time, I have made life-long friends and been inspired by the witness of a countless number of people who have entered the orbit of Pleasant Hope at some time or another. Today, Pastor Ronald Covington spoke a word so in tune with what we needed that folks thought I was passing him notes! And my DEAR brother, Nnamdi Lumumba walked the aisle today with his son to demonstrate his desire to become an official member of the church! (so humbled!) So much to be thankful for! However, of all the things that fill me with gratitude, ranked near the top of my list is appreciation for a congregation that is not only patient with me as I learn what it means to be a pastor, but courageous enough to dream with me - to push the envelope and experiment together with what it means to follow The Way of Jesus and embrace a holistic understanding of salvation. I must thank so many of you as well: the Facebook Wing of Pleasant Hope (smile) - those of you who perhaps have never or only rarely stepped foot in the building, but see and support what were trying to do nonetheless. You send in money to help the mission, youve shown up to help in our outreach to others, you speak well of the church in your circles of influence, or even claim me as your pastor - though some of you dont even get down with Christianity like that:) I so appreciate you and want you to know it! Please continue to pray and send good vibes. The Almighty is up to something at this dynamic church and I am so humbled to be a part of it. Thank you!
