What a great day I had yesterday! I played in a Veterans Day golf tournament at The National Golf Club in KC, a private course designed by Tom Watson. This was the 11th year in which theyve hosted the event, 100% of the proceeds go to the Wounded Warrior Project. One club member paid for all tourney costs for one veteran in order to get them to attend; green fee, cart, 2 delicious meals, open bar all day/night and they brought in an elementary and high school choir to sign some patriotic songs to us....all for Free! I met a great group of people who love the game of golf and love this country as much as me, and I also met a WWII veteran who was part of the Normandy Invasions in June 1944; it was very humbling to say the least! Didnt get to hear his story but shook his hand and thanked him for his service. Although the weather was very cold and at times miserable, I still managed to play well and helped my team tie for 1st; overall the experience was amazing! Definitely going back next year...God willing!
