What a sad farce this story is! It’s the media that have been on sidelines. They’ve known all along that net neutrality is one of the biggest stories of the era, and they’ve lost no opportunity to bury it. Net neutrality should have been hotly debated during the election campaign, but a press that is the docile handmaiden of Wall Street, and therefore the telecommunications giants, kept it under wraps. Now The TImes wants us to believe the silence in Silicon Valley is the story. Bullshit! The press’ relative silence story is the story. Wthout net neutrality the American public has no way to fill the void left by a desultory corporate press, and the press knows this damned well.
