What a thoughtful discussion with Sir Haqnawaz Raja........my good friend like my elder brother(Teacher in Government School)...here are some key points of our discussion that might be useful for educational thinking specifically regarding to our town... He mentioned that there is no clean water and washrooms for the students; studying in Government school.Still no one came to us (teachers, principle) from the parents of the students to ask about these basic amenities....... No one ever asked me about the regularity and performance of his/her children in school..... There is no one in our city who should ask from teachers either they are performing their duty honestly or not;because it is the matter of our generation....... No one is to guide our youngsters to live a standard life with proper education and awareness......... Then I added Our town has no standard play ground (just one, only for cricket is not enough for such a big population) We dont have a single park for our recreation,even natural places are not properly oriented for this purpose....... The water we drink is not filtered, as a result; along with many other diseases, every 5th person of our town is the victim of hepatitis b....... There is no concept of solid waste management in our town, one can observe garbage every where in the streets, even there is no concept of sewerage system..... Look at our hospital.......I visited three times in my life..I found half of the staff absent from the duty all three times......No proper dispensary,no proper laboratory........ And if I mention other social problem of our town then these would be hundreds..and you will be bored because it would get too long. The reason I am telling these things here because there is a common reason behind all these problems........And that is Lack of Education The literacy rate of our town is too low and the number of students getting higher education is not significant.........I expressed my feelings to get your feed back and ideas about what can we do or should we do to improve the literacy rate of our town and to give awareness to the people belonging all age groups and both genders?????????
